Survival of the Richest

Man has distanced himself from the normal ecological course of events, depleting raw materials, all in the pursuit of acquiring more property. It has long since ceased to be necessary for survival, at least in the wealthy part of the world.
For this, homo sapiens has come up with something clever: printing money and attaching a fake value to it. And so that you don’t have to pay for raw materials, fish, oceans, water, etc. You can deplete them for free if you have acquired the land. Whoever collects the most money can call themselves rich. And with a lot of property, they can also bind others to themselves. After all, if all the land is in the hands of the rich, everyone else without land is dependent on it, among other things for the yield.

What impact does this “money game” have on the Earth? Or is it a natural phenomenon, the next logical phase in development? “Oh come on, nature and biology don’t get influenced by something as trivial as a made-up coin, do they?” Or do they?
Do these coins function as a selection criterion, offering an advantage to those who have many of them? Perhaps an evolutionary advantage? Thinking about it, one might come to some strange conclusions.

Is the genocide in Gaza directly a consequence of the fact that Israel and the U.S. have managed to collect many coins? Or at least printed a lot of money? And thus can create/buy bombs? And therefore select which branch of the species survives and which does not? Absurd thought, I know, but still…
Or take a slightly less absurd example: land grabbing, or better yet, buying up land. Research shows that after a severe economic (money) crisis, landowners quickly recover, while some people die of hunger in the meantime. And they quickly become rich again: no one has coins anymore, but they still have that land, from which everyone must live… And so they quickly have a lot of coins again…
That really starts to look a lot like survival of the richest, doesn’t it?

It plays out not only on an individual level but also on a clan level: Rich countries trying to keep others outside their borders. They come up with all sorts of things to keep those borders, that territory, closed. Nothing is too crazy, but that’s the same with other species than humans—defense mechanisms in plants can take on very strange forms.
At the same time, in countries with many coins, people are kept alive longer by healthcare. They select through, within their own clan.
In crises like AIDS or COVID, the rich have a clear evolutionary advantage: biological agents are developed very quickly to protect the rich clans first, and the selection happens rapidly, with many victims in countries where many people do not own coins.

What we know for sure and can establish is that with money, one’s chances of survival are greater. And thus, the chances of surviving offspring are also greater. And isn’t that simply the definition of evolution? Survival of the Richest, right?
